When visiting Maine you will not want to miss the First Friday Art Walk in Portland. Galleries throughout downtown Portland and the Old Port open their doors, serve light snacks and encourage art lovers to browse their galleries in the early evening.
Kennebunkport Kennebunk Art Walk 2023 is June 30, July 28, August 25, with a finale during ChalkFest on Sept. 29.
There is also a Village Art Trail in Kennebunkport and Kennebunk’s Lower Village that includes over 30 galleries, studios and museums.
The Art Trail in Kennebunk is Free, and fun for everyone. Folks are encouraged to walk the Main Street of Kennebunk and visit art galleries including Brick Store Museum, and the Kennebunk Free Library. The Art Trail features art in all shapes and size, mediums and platforms – from traditional art, oils and photography, land, animal and seascapes, to jewelry, pottery, sculpture and baskets, even vintage postcards. Often the gallery owner is the artist, so you meet the source, and learn about their inspiration and creation.
The Art Walk of the Kennebunks, some galleries offer music. You can also grab light bite and a cocktail at Old Vines Wine Bar, Pedros, in Lower Village Kennebunk. Here you will find more galleries and local Maine boutiques like Sue Rioux Design, Morph, and Deborah Randall Fine Art, plus many more Kennebunkport art galleries across the Kennebunk River like Landmark Gallery, Rusty Fly, F8, True North and Christopher Becker Photography. These galleries are all part of the Village Art Trail.
Come and enjoy strolling the brick sidewalks and pretty storefronts and shops of downtown Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. Perhaps you will meet the artist of that beautiful painting you’re admiring and discuss his or her inspiration. What a great way to spend a sultry summer evening in Maine viewing the artwork of local painters, potters and crafts people who have captured the beauty of Maine on canvas, clay or handmade jewelry pieces. The Art Walk is free, though you might find that treasure to splurge on.
