Halloween in Kennebunkport and Kennebunk is freakishly fun, for kids and for kids-that-never-grew-up. Just drive around town and see the crazy, scary, silly scarecrows and pumpkins for a hint of how spirited the Kennebunks can be.
You might even see some local “Sand Witches of The Kennebunks” wicked fun women dressed in witchy attire pub crawling about The Kennebunks. Don’t be afraid, these are Good Witches, who do Good Deeds locally all year round. Halloween they kick up their brooms and heels to celebrate!
As for the best decorations, if you’ve never seen Kennebunk’s Summer Street decorated in the dark on old Hallow Eve, then you’re in for a treat … and a trick or two. Local legends tell that many of these grand old Sea Captains’ mansions are haunted… bwahhhh…

Halloween Night – Summer Street is the scariest place to be. Residents of the historic Victorian homes and Federal mansions decorate with spider webs, ghosts and graveyards, strobe lights and skeletons, to see if your kids are brave enough to beg for candy. Summer Street trick or treating is a spooky spectacular not to be missed. Rumor is many of these centuries old homes are haunted. Halloween is wicked popular here! New 2024, Summer Street will NOT be closed to vehicular traffic as in the past. Residents and officials hope to reduce the volume of “folks from away” parading the street, and also allow residents (and emergency vehicles) access to their homes and driveways October 31st.
Come to Kennebunkport for a fall getaway during this spirited time of year, stay at Rhumb Line Resort for as low as $129 a night, enjoying breakfast, the indoor pool and spa and outdoor hot tub! Or stay directly on Kennebunk Beach at Seaside Inn with their value packages!
Sunday November 3 is time to Fall Back, also All Saints Day, set your clock back an hour for Daylight Savings at 2am…enjoy that extra hour of sleep cause it’s going to be “wicked” dark when you wake.
Wishing all the little ghouls and goblins a spooky but safe Halloween in Kennebunkport & Kennebunk Maine!
