No one is more excited about The Kennebunkport Festival than me. The Kport Fest encompasses everything I love: food, wine, music, friends old and new, fantastic seaside scenery, fashion and my favorite town of KPT.
Top 10 Reasons I love #KportFest
#1 Kennebunkport Festival is the kick off to summer – it’s the first big party series for this serious party town by the sea. It’s not just one event – it’s a weeklong event Monday June 5 through Saturday June 10 of eating, drinking, dancing, admiring art, and taking in the splendor of this oceanfront community.
#2 Party Every Day – sounds like a song right?! There truly is at least one fun venue each evening during Kennebunkport Festival, and often several. As some say of the Festival, it’s a marathon not a sprint. Cocktail Parties each evening from 5-7 set the tone, at fantastic venues like the new Burleigh at Kennebunkport Inn, The Colony, and On The Marsh. All the fun people of this toney town turn out to sip cocktails, sample small plates, and celebrate our good fortunate to be here. Cheers!
#3 Kennebunkport’s most beautiful homes are open to a few fortune guests as part of The Art of Dining. These are intimate dinners at extravagant homes, and wait it gets better… Maine’s top Chefs make dinner. Picture yourself enjoying a multi-course culinary adventure with new friends, and familiar faces. Conversation flows with the wine, it’s a fine time. Tickets to these private dinners are “dear” as my mum would say (code for pricey at $195 per person), but she also told me the best things in life are NOT free.
#4 Maine’s Best Chefs put their finest plates forward for the Fest. Chefs from Kennebunk and Kennebunkport’s best restaurants, and Portland’s top restaurants too, cook up a spectacular show for each cocktail shindig, dinner and gala event. One of the best values is the Grand Tasting on Saturday at noon, where you can sample all the Chefs’ best plates, tapas style. Vinegar Hill’s Wood Fired event on Thursday is also a culinary extravaganza with the dream team of Earth at Hidden Pond’s talented chefs.
#5 Maine’s Best Artists showcase their work on the waterfront – where much of it is inspired. Can you think of more spectacular backdrop for beautiful watercolors, impressionism, giclee, and pop art than Kennebunkport beautiful waterfront resorts, homes and restaurants?
#6 It’s yachty. Get on board fantastic yachts, old and new. The Hinckley Reception is a swell time if you’ll pardon the nauti pun, to board the latest sophisticated Hinckley picnic boats made here in Maine while sipping drinks on the docks amid local live music. The Spirit of Massachusetts is also a bedecked part of the fest, with a pre-game event on Friday prior to the big Spirit of Maine party under the big top. Amuse is the name of this Spirit cocktail party, get your tickets to walk the plank.
#7 Maine Craft Music Festival on The Green in front of the Captain Lord Mansion is the most fun, affordable, casual and completely outdoor venue. Saturday afternoon, for just $15 bucks, enjoy a jammin’ lineup of great Maine bands on the stage. Food trucks and a beer tent line the Green for libation and social lubricant.
#8 Just dance! Two big dance parties are the highlight of the fest for many. The Spirit of Maine party on Friday takes place under the tent by the Pilot House – and it rocks! The Grand Finale on Saturday at David’s KPT Boathouse follows suit with a lavish display of food and wine followed by fun on David’s dance floor as the sun sets and the evening unwinds. It’s the finale folks and David knows how to throw a party and put out a spread.
#9 Fashions at the Festival. I love to see the fashions that parade around the Port during Festival. From preppy to formal, hipster to haberdashery, people turn out and turn up their wardrobes for the weeklong festivities, with the Finale at David’s being the fanciest!
#10 Ramp up to Launch and Glamping. The Kennebunkport Festival wraps June 10 but the next weekend is Launch – Kennebunks Maritime Festival now in year 2! A highlight is the River Light Boats Parade on Saturday June 17 at 9pm.
June 23 its time to go glamping at The Summer Camp Gala at
Sandy Pines Campground near Goose Rocks Beach. This newly renovated campground will kick off their opening by showcasing 12 designer tents, each inspired by a local decorator! Your $100 ticket to the Glamping gala benefits local charities, and gets you admission 6-9pm, live music by Sultans of Swing, Kitchen Chicks Catering and tours of luxe designer safari tents.
I love this town. #LoveKPT …party on Kennebunkport….
