Traveling to Kennebunk, Maine for a weekend vacation? For the last weekend in September, you may be expecting a quieter weekend getaway as the bustle of summer tourists have left for the season.
Tis the season for a more relaxed paced vacation in the Kennebunks as amusement parks and summer theaters are preparing to close for the season until next summer, and the beach is much quieter than peak summer. However, there is still so much to do in Kennebunk “off season” as boats are still in the water for kayaking, canoeing, and sightseeing along the coast on boat tours.
This weekend is the last for the Pumpkin Patch Trolley hosted by the Seashore Trolley Museum. Streetcar riders can disembark at the Pumpkin Patch to search for the perfect pumpkin to take home to make pumpkin pie or decorate pumpkins in lieu of the upcoming October season. While waiting for the next trolley you can score your chance to win prizes at the fall carnival.
In Dock Square Kennebunkport and Lower Village you will find art galleries offering open houses and exhibits, boutiques stores with special sales, and our local wine shop, Down East Wines is hosting wine tasting. It’s also Greater Kennebunk Restaurant Week – a great time to enjoy three course dining at many of our best local restaurants.
Stay tuned for more fall events in Kennebunkport, Maine!
