Halloween in Kennebunkport and Kennebunk is freakishly fun, for kids and for kids that never grew up. Just drive around town and see the crazy, scary, silly scarecrows and pumpkins for a hint of how spirited the Kennebunks can be. You might even see some local “Sand-Witches” …wild women dressed in witchy attire pub crawling about The Kennebunks… a booh’sie tradition among the “desperate housewives of KPT”.
As for the best decorations, if you’ve never seen Kennebunk’s Summer Street decorated in the dark on Hallow Eve, then you’re in for a treat … and a trick or two. Local legends tell that many of these grand old Sea Captains mansions are haunted… bwahhhh…
Here are some haunted happenings in Kennebunkport and Kennebunk this Halloween 2017:
Oct 29 Sunday is the 8th annual Wicked 5k Fun Run/Walk– costumes are encouraged for this fun run through the streets of Kennebunkport. Open to everyone, with amazing prizes and give-a-ways, most everyone leaves with something. Entry fee is $25 in advance, there is even a Kids popular 1K Fun Run for $5. The Wicked 5k benefits the COS, community outreach services, of Kennebunk.
Oct 21 is Bentley’s Halloween Party. Your $20 admission is for a spooky spirited night of live music, dancing, costumes, prizes, treats, and cash bar.
Old Vines Wine Bar is celebrating Halloweekend with a costume 7 cocktail party Oct 28, its a Dress Up and Drink Party. So trick or drink people, get your boo’s on at Old Vines this spirited weekend.
Thursday Oct 26 is Local Dish’s 6th Annual Halloween Party at Burleigh, Kennebunkport Inn – 7-10pm Costumes are encouraged during this fun night of music with Ocean Ave Band featuring our local starlet Lisa Mills. This ghoulish good time includes spooky drink specials and prizes for best costumes!
The Kennebunk Farmers Market on Halloween Weekend Saturday so get your pumpkins, ghourds and squash, plus farm raised fresh produce, harvest veggies, organic beef, and homemade goodies!
Halloween weekend is Mabel’s Lobster Claw last hurrah Oct 28 ~that’s not a Halloween event per se but its frightening that they won’t be open again till spring, so get your Lobster Savannah ~ bwah ha ha.
For the Kids:
Kennebunks’ Chamber invites kids to Trick-or-Treat in downtown Kennebunk, Lower Village and Kennebunkport Dock Square businesses Oct 31 from 4 -6 pm. Participating shops and businesses will have a pumpkin lantern on their door or window indicating they welcome trick or treaters. Be sure to thank these local business for having your little ghosts and goblins for a fun safe candy spree!
Halloween Night – Summer Street is the scariest place to be. Residents of the historic Victorian homes and mansions decorate with spider webs, ghosts and graveyards, strobe lights and scary skeletons to see if your kids are brave enough to beg for candy. Summer Street trick or treating is a spooky spectacular not to be missed. Rumor is many of these centuries old homes are haunted. Halloween is certainly wicked popular here!
Sunday November 5 is the Nonantum Wedding Show – that’s awkward, but one man’s wedding is another‘s nightmare, lol. Nonantum’s Wedding Show is 11-4 with free admission, prizes, tastings and music with over 30 vendors from caterers to cakes, tents to flowers, djs to photographers.
Sunday November 5 is also time to Fall Back, set your clock back an hour for Daylight Savings at 2am…enjoy that extra hour of sleep cause its going to be dark when you wake.
