It’s a boo-tiful time of year in Kennebunkport and Kennebunk. Halloween is a fantastic time for kids to dress up and demand candy from strangers and for grownups to enjoy costume parties, trick or treat for the youngster and trick or drink for the adults.
Haunted and fun happenings in Kennebunkport and Kennebunk this Halloween:
Thursday Oct 30 is Local Dish’s Halloween Party at One Dock, Kennebunkport Inn – 7-10pm Costumes are encouraged during this fun night of music by Mark Gunter, Byon Yeatts, Joe Riillo and Lisa Mills. They are taking Halloween music requests. This promises to be a spooky night of happy hour prices, haunted costumes and prizes for best costumes!
Friday Oct 31 is The Nonantum Phantom – The 1883 Nonantum Resort flaunts its haunted side with a first annual Halloween Masquarade Ball Friday 8-11:30. This promises to be a wicked good time with live music by Stolen Mojo. Costumes are encouraged. Cash bar and Hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets are $15 in Advance, or book a room for the night and sleep among the ghosts in a portside guestroom for $129.00 + tax.
Friday October 31 is Biddeford and Saco ArtWalk from 5-8pm. The last Friday of every month event at numerous Biddeford art galleries in downtown Biddeford and The Saco Mill, managed the City Hall Gallery.
For the Kids:
Kennebunks’ Chamber invites kids to Trick-or-Treat in downtown Kennebunk, Lower Village and Kennebunkport Dock Square businesses Friday Oct 31 from 4 -6 pm. Participating shops and businesses will have a pumpkin sign on their door or window indicating they welcome trick or treaters. Be sure to thank these local business for having your little ghosts and goblins for a fun safe candy spree!
Federal Jack’s Restaurant and Brewpub hosts a Haunted House 4 -9 PM, at 8 Western Ave, Kennebunk Lower Village. Suggested donation $5 benefit the Animal Welfare Society
Halloween Night – Summer Street is the scariest place to be. Residents of the grand ship captains’ homes and mansions decorate their homes with spider webs, ghosts and graveyards, strobe lights and scary skeletons to see if your kids are brave enough to beg for candy. Summer Street trick or treating is a spooky spectacular not to be missed. Homeowners here hand out thousands of dollars worth of candy for trick or treaters from and wide….its wicked popular!
Parents and Drivers be warned: Summer Street will be closed to car traffic, for the safety of trick or treaters between Park Street and Depot Street from 5 – 9pm. There will be no parking on Winter Street. Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Park Street, and westbound traffic will be rerouted down Depot Street Police will be stationed at each end of Summer Street to stop vehicle traffic and direct costume kids.
Saturday November 1 is All Saints Day, or Day of the Walking Dead… is also the Kennebunk Farmers Market – which promise delicious farm raised fresh produce, harvest veggies, organic beef, pumpkins and homemade goodies! The Kennebunk Farmers Market continues Saturdays through Nov 22, 2014 8-1pm.
Sunday November 2 its time to Fall Back, set your clock back an hour for Daylight Savings at 2am…enjoy that extra hour of sleep cause its going to be dark when you wake.
